Optimari was established in Sandakan by people who had spent time working in logistics and transportation across Sabah. Over those years, one observation kept coming up: most rental providers hand over a vehicle and little else. The experience ends at the key handover, regardless of how far the customer is travelling or how familiar they are with driving conditions in the region.
We started Optimari to change that in a modest but practical way. Each arrangement we offer includes materials and, where the plan length warrants it, a conversation — about route options, about the vehicle, about how to make the most of the mileage. It's not a course or a consultation. It's just the kind of information that makes a rental more useful.
The name Optimari draws from the Latin word for sea and the idea of navigation — finding the right path. For us, that means matching the right vehicle to the right journey, and helping the driver feel oriented before they pull out of our lot in Sandakan.

Vehicle Readiness Checks
Before each rental, vehicles undergo a documented checklist covering tyre condition, fluid levels, brake response, and in-cabin equipment. No vehicle leaves our lot without a completed check sheet.
Road Safety Compliance
All vehicles are maintained in accordance with JPJ and Malaysian road transport regulations. Documentation is kept current and available for inspection.
Customer Data Handling
Personal details collected during the booking process are used only to manage the rental. We do not share customer data with third parties except where required by law.
Clear Rental Terms
The rental agreement is provided in full before the customer signs. We go through the key terms at pickup so there are no surprises at return.
Fuel Efficiency Sourcing
Vehicles are selected based on published fuel consumption ratings for Malaysian road conditions. We update our fleet periodically to reflect improvements in efficiency available in the market.
Responsive Support
Customers on active rentals can reach us by phone during office hours. For weeklong plan holders, we also conduct a mid-week check-in as part of the arrangement.

Beyond the vehicle, we prepare materials for each rental that speak directly to the routes and conditions the customer is likely to encounter.
Our office is on Jalan Tiga, close to the centre of Sandakan, and we handle all arrangements directly. There's no online booking platform or automated system — customers contact us, we discuss the plan, and we arrange the rental in a way that suits the actual journey. That directness is part of how we operate.
